Junior and Under 23 Europeans

During this championships 98 medals are awarded, what makes it one of the most active events in canoeing.

Even with so many athletes and events, it was clear for us, that our boats are not only the choice of the top paddlers, but also from their younger followers.

It is very rewarding to see some of the rising stars of our sport using our boats, and coming by our stand to get their boats fitted or polished, seeing us as someone that is there to help them out. That is exactly why we served more the 120 boats this week, we were just not able to say no! when we saw how keen they were in performing to their best.

Well and gladly for all things turned out great! Our boats won 7 of 8 gold medals in Kayak Juniors and all the golds in the Under 23 Kayaks ( Olympic events), in the canoes we are not as popular as in the senior still we took around one third of the total of medals.

Naming individuals in this age groups is very hard, specially when the World Championships are just around the corner, but from our end we could remark the extraordinary performance of:

JUNIOR

1. Joana Vasconcelos POR - Junior K1 W - A gold and bronze medal becoming the best female K1 paddler of the championship and aiming for more in Moscow.

2.Francisco Cubellos SPA - Junior K1 -One gold and one silver, for sure a name to keep in mind for the future.

3. Italy K2 Junior - Coincidence or not, they were using the same boat as Rossi/Bonomi used in Athens 04, when they won a silver medal, but the fact is they putted up some very respectable performances to win both distances.

UNDER 23

1. Tamara Csipes HUN - Under 23 K1 W - 2 gold medals and 2 solid performances, her name says the rest.

2. Thomas Simart FRA - Under 23 C1 - Gold in the 1000 mt and bronze in 500 mt, sometimes is not just the victory is how you do it, and Thomas did an extraordinary last 200 mt on their 1000 mt gold race.

3. Fernando Pimenta POR - Under 23 K1 -Gold and Bronze, after making the A final in the EC in Brandenburg at age 19, he is for sure one of the most promising talents in the World of canoeing.

Now after our most successful championships ever, we refocus for the marathon Europeans taking place in Poland as well, this coming weekend.
